The summer solstice is only a week away on June 21, so that means Summer Sailstice is just around the corner on June 22.
Summer Sailstice? The annual celebration of sailing was created by John Arndt, now the publisher of Latitdue 38 magazine, as a way of promoting sailing and introducing new folk to the sailing lifestyle.
Over the last two decades or so, Sailstice grown into an international event – one day of the year when sailors get together with their boats and their friends to party and celebrate sailing.
Individual volunteers drive Sailstice and create events all over America and in lands far from home. Some of the annual Saltsice parties, often with a local theme, have been going on for many years. And, the Salstice team presents prizes donated by dozens of sponsors to organizers who come up with the most inventive and popular events.
You can get involved by simply logging on to the Salstice website where you will find a list of free events on June 22.
