This stems from an initial complaint about shoplifting, which was dropped, but then they were referred to the Immigration department after failing to produce visitor permits. The three claimed that they entered Belize on a private vessel owned by one of them but further checking revealed that Pendergrast, the alleged owner, was wanted in the U.S. for the theft of a $1.5 million catamaran which was stolen from Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale.
