(Smithsonian Magazine) – In 2012 a Roman vessel was discovered 1,148 feet below the surface between France and Italy. In July marine archaeologists from Italy and France revisited the site using two remotely operated vehicles, using one of the ROV’s arm to recovcer artifacts from the wreck. THe robot has recovered two bronze basins and a large collection of perfectly preserved glass tableware. The researches have stated that the shipwreck should, “deconstruct a page in the history of Mediterranean trade”. Read more.
