(thedodo.com) – Lately all the news has been about encounters with orcas off the coast of Spain and Portugal, where the whales attempt to ram boats and their rudders. Paco Jimenez Franco has a different take on whales. For the past twenty years he has been a whale watching captain in a lagoon of the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, Ojo de Liebre.
The whales at times would approach close to his boat and he noticed some were carrying whale lice. When a whale got close enough, Franco would pick off the lice and one whale now returns for lice removal sessions. Read more.
