Returning to Pas de Deux after a dinghy trip to a patch reef for snorkeling. The water clarity was the best we’d ever seen and the sun reflections produced these amazing views. Look closely for the Cushion Stars laying on the bottom, about 15 feet deep.
Our stop at Hogsty Reef, Bahamas, was a example of making cruiser lemonade. We had departed from St John, USVI several days earlier for an intended non-stop passage to the Chesapeake Bay, but had to divert due to forecast bad weather further north. We diverted toward the Turks and Caicos, but kept going to Hogsty to take advantage of calm conditions needed to visit the isolated atoll. We’d always wanted to visit Hogsty in prior visits to the Bahamas, but never had the necessary settled weather when we were close enough to get there. We stayed two nights before needing to move on before higher winds made this anchorage untenable.
