It s now almost 100 days since Hurricane Irma destroyed Barbuda, St, Martin and the Virgin Islands. We were in Antigua a month ago and news from Barbuda just 20 miles away was not good. Ocean Cruising Club member Lisa Batchelor Frailey posted this note on the OCC website for all who might be able to help.
For those cruisers who wish to help onsite in Barbuda….we just received the contact info for the Waitt Institute’s Volunteer Coordinator. Contact Renee Desuza at 268-732-0183 by phone or Whatsapp to discuss specific needs and logistics. Volunteers are needed to clear debris, fix fences, repair homes. Cruisers anchored in Low Bay can dinghy to Codrington through the breach in the lagoon. Read more.
