It is no great secret that likeminded individuals naturally tend to gather themselves together. Sailors are no different. And many cruisers actually point to the camaraderie amongst the cruising community as one of their favorite things about the lifestyle. Whether it is stopping by in the dinghy to say hi to a neighbor at anchor, helping one another with a stubborn boat project, or just sharing stories over sundowners on the dock or in the cockpit, the social bond of cruising is a unique and enduring aspect of life afloat.
But part of what makes these relationships so unique is how quickly and strongly friendships between cruiser can develop. I–and many of you I’m sure–have met countless people over the years, that, no matter how long it has been, if we noticed them in an anchorage tomorrow we’d start a conversation like we just saw each other yesterday. That is something to cherish in today’s world. So, whether you’re nestled in a marina or sailing across an ocean, have fun making those cruising friends.
Enjoy this week’s edition.
