Solaris Yachts in Italy is celebrating its 50th anniversary in business by launching a brand new version of their popular Solaris 55. The new design, drawn by Soto Acebal , who has drawn most recent yachts for the builder, expands the boat’s profile in many ways.
The new 55, which should debut at the Cannes boat show in September, has been give more beam, especially forward, to provide greater form stability and more living space in the forward cabin.
A chine runs all the way afgt, again for stability and interior volume. A garage for a dinhy opens through the fold-down transom and will accommodate a 10-foot inflatable.
The interior shows three large sleeping cabins, three heads with separate showers and a conventional and comfortable saloon. The galley is U-shaped so it will be safe while underway and large enough for preparing proper meals when you have guests aboard. The dinette will sea six comfortably and eight in a pinch.
Solaris prides itself on building top-of-the line, luxury performance cruising boats that can be raced successfully in point to point events.
Although not all that well known in North America, the brand is very popular in Europe and stands with builders like Grand Soleil, Swan, Oyster, X-Yachts and several others as a leader in quality and enduring value. The new 55 promises to continue the company’s fine tradition.
