This year Sunsail is celebrating 50 years in the charter business. It’s a remarkable run. As you know, Sunsail is a sister company to The Moorings and both share the same base in Road Town Tortola, BVI as well as separate bases all around the world.
Both companies were founded by intrepid entrepreneurs, Sunsail in the UK and Greece, and The Moorings in the BVI. Today they are owned by the British holding company Traveltopia, which was recently purchased by the NY-based venture capital firm KKR.
The charter companies may have corporate masters, but they have intentionally kept their own unique business profiles and personalities instead of simply merging the two brands into one. With this being Sunsails 50th , the gang at Sunsail took the opportunity last week to publish an interesting blog that spells out exactly how the two companies compare and contrast.
If you are new to charting, the blog will help you sort out which company may be best for you. And, if you are a veteran charterer, as many Cruising Compass readers are, then you’ll find the distinctions made to be true to what you already know, and more.
