Soon, we will be starting the spring migration season when boats from the Caribbean and North American make the passage east to the Azores and then sail on to Portugal and The Med. While this is an amazing blue water experience, there is only one serious impediment near the end: Orca Alley. Along the Portuguese coast, Orca attacks on sail boats continue and should be taken seriously. The Cruising Association, in partnership with DT Orca Atlantica, has developed a series of Orca incident protocols and issues regular updates on their website.
