Thanks to all readers who sent in answers to last week’s question. The winner this week is Neville Ward of Long Beach, CA (formerly of Perth, Australia) who emailed: “In 1983, when the US lost the America’s Cup after holding it without defeat for 132 years –the longest winning streak in American sports–the winning skipper was John Bertrand and the and the winning crew hailed from Australia. The Aussie defense of the next Cup challenge was held in Perth, Australia in 1987. American skipper Denis Conner, who had lost the cip to the Australians, steered his 12 Meter Stars & Stripes for a four nil victory making him to the only America’s Cup skipper to both lose the cup and win it back again. And, I was there.”
