(cbs17.com) – The North Carolina coast is proving to be quite difficult this year. A 51-foot yacht ran aground off the Ocracoke Inlet, with the crew able to make it ashore without injuries. That was on November 2. November 5 a 42- foot sailboat ran aground further north, near the Oregon Inlet. Crews from the Rodanthe rescue station worked to rescue the crew. Jay Phillips of Phillips Boat Works in Buxton, NC noted there are typically between 8-10 boats wrecked yearly at the Outer Banks. Read more.
