(www.gov.uk) – The owner and skipper of a rowing boat has received a 12-month suspended sentence resulting from an incident in February 2016. Michael Johnson, 21, was onboard the boat Toby Wallace as part of the crew attempting a world record for crossing the Atlantic. Johnson was washed overboard just after midnight and could not be saved. Simon Chalk owned the Toby Wallace and has pleaded guilty to failing to take all reasonable measures to ensure the safe operation of the row boat. Read more.
