(yachtingmonthy.com) – This past Saturday saw a wild start to the 2023 Rolex Fastnet Race which takes place along the south coast of England. Winds were in the 30-knot range with gusts to 43 knots at the start and rescue services were kept busy. HM Coastguard reported responding to 28 incidents and local lifeboats and rescue teams were all responding to multiple incidents. A coastguard helicopter was needed to rescue injured crew. A Sunfast 3600 was taking on water and the crew was rescued from their lifeboat. One boat ran aground and there were four dismastings. Read more.
