(freep.com) – World Ocean Day was June 8, 2023 and in honor of the day NOAA published a fun way to think about the depths of the Great Lakes. Lake Superior is the deepest lake at 1,332 feet while Lake Erie is the shalllowest at just 210 feet. NOAA suggests you think about the depths in terms of places you are familiar with, for instance, Lake Ontario at 802 feet is just about the size of two regulation football fields laid end to end.
