The winner this week is Betsy Collier, Marblehead, MA who emailed: “You use an anchor snubber on anchor chain to absorb shock loads and protect the windlass from damage. It’s often a length of stretchy nylon line with either a chain hook to hook the chain or you can just use a rolling hitch on the chain. Or you can use a store bought snubber with a length of rubber to make it extra springy.”
