(wbalty.com) – Maryland state regulators have banned cargo ship pilots from using personal cellphones on Maryland waters including the Chesapeake Bay. This stems from the grounding of the Ever Forward when the pilot was on his cell phone for an hour, texting, sending emails and taking screenshots resulting in the ship getting stuck for 45 days. Earlier the state issued a fine to the ship for causing damage to the oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay. Read more.
