(livescience.com) – Archaeologists were looking for unexploded ammunition dumped on the bottom of a lake near Oslo during WWII when they discovered the remains of a vessel. Sonar images show a wooden vessel around 33 feet long at the depth of about 1,350 feet, a vessel they now believe was built about 700 years ago. The ship’s construction suggests it was built soon after the Viking ships as it shows a medieval design with a distinctive bow and stern. Read more.
