Last weekend, a New Zealand couple, who were sailing their cruising boat off New Zealand’s Northland, called the coast guard for help when they suffered damage in a strong storm. But, the high seas and strong winds made rescue impossible for three days. The couple, both in their seventies, were growing exhausted and distressed by Wednesday when their boat blew ashore onto a rocky island where it began to sink. A rescue helicopter was finally dispatched from the coast guard base in St. John, NZ and managed to hoist the couple to safety. Read more and watch the rescue video.
