The winner of this week’s Mindbender is Tony Kalish in Maryland who correctly identifies hurricane force storms in the western Pacific. There should be two answers to this question: In the northwester part of the Pacific the weather event known as a Hurricane in the Atlantic (and northern Pacific) are called “TYPHOONS”. In the southwestern part of the Pacific these storms are called “SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONES”.
A little bit of weather trivia: hurricane was named after the Caribbean god of evil named “HURRICAN”… just sayin’
