A British family of four are recovering on board another ship after they were rescued when their catamaran ran aground on a reef in the South Pacific during heavy seas. The family made an emergency radio call at 2:30 AM from Beveridge Reef – a remote reef 400 km south east of the small island of Niue, the Rescue Coordination Centre of New Zealand (RCCNZ) said. Search and rescue officials said it was “very fortunate” that a nearby vessel – the sole craft in the vicinity – was monitoring the emergency channel and able to assist. Read more.
