Strictly Sail Chicago: US Sailing Launches a New 4-hour Coastal Safety at Sea Course

This year’s Strictly Sail Chicago show is January 23rd – 26th, and while there is going to be lots to see and do, the show is boasting one of the most complete seminar schedules around. And, they’re free!

All the free seminars are sponsored by Blue Water Sailing and Cruising Compass, which means CC readers get a $2 per ticket discount by going to the Strictly Sail Chicago site and entering the promo code BWS.

In support of coastal races and cruising, US Sailing is now offering Coastal Safety at Sea Seminars. The new half-day seminars for skippers and crewmembers who participant in coastal or nearshore races or cruise nearshore, will help them understand the latest safety practices and ensure thay are familiar with the gear necessary to be safe. The curriculum is derived from the one-day and two-day seminars offered by US Sailing and will be moderated by the same instructors.

Saturday, January 25, 8am-12pm – Room 327

Topics may include:

  1. Emergency Communication Equipment and Technique
  2. Personal safety gear (life jackets, harnesses, tethers, and personal electronics
  3. Crew Overboard prevention and recover
  4. Search and Rescue procedures

(Topics will be determined by local instructors based local waters and needs.)
Cost $65.00 -
One (2) day admission ticket to the show included with the price of the seminar.
