The researchers from OCEARCH have spent the summer tagging sharks off Cape Cod. Now you can track the movement of each tagged shark online.
OCEARCH has provided a free, regularly updated worldwide map online showing the most recent locations of tagged sharks. In most cases, a device is secured to each shark’s dorsal fin, and when the fin breaks the water it sends a signal transmitting its location. When OCEARCH receives a signal from a shark, the information is updated on the map. And clicking on each shark’s button pulls up information about it.
