Great Lakes Cruising Club School Announces Expanded Fall Schedule of Webinars

The Great Lakes Cruising Club School has expanded its popular and highly acclaimed webinar curriculum for 2013-14.  This year boaters may now choose from over forty webinar tutorials conducted by experienced GLCC-accredited sail or power boating colleagues and industry specialists.  These interactive sessions are available to anyone with an interest in learning more about boating and the Great Lakes.

Live, real time on-screen presentations with visual aids provide an opportunity for participants to interact with the instructor and each other in a virtual classroom. Sessions typically run 60-90 minutes, and only require a computer with speakers, browser and a reasonable-speed internet connection.

Feedback from past participants continues to be enthusiastic, endorsing the content and effectiveness of on-line learning, instructor qualifications, and ease of interaction as well as the low cost. On average a webinar costs $25.00, discounted to $20.00 for current Great Lakes Cruising Club (GLCC), United States Power Squadrons (USPS) and Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) members.

GLCCSchool continues to expand its faculty as well as its webinar offerings. For example, new to the faculty this year is two-time circumnavigator, author of multiple cruising books, and BoatUS Technical Director Beth Leonard offering her “Why Boats Sink” webinar in February. Beth joins other well-recognized cruising experts on the GLCCSchool faculty like weather forecasting and routing guru Chris Parker, Marine Refrigeration and Power expert Bob Williams, past Cruising Club of America Commodore and Safety at Sea expert Sheila McCurdy, and Starpath radar expert Larry Brandt.

Also being refreshed this year is our offering of regional Great Lakes cruising webinars, taught by highly recognized GLCC-accredited sail or power boating colleagues like past GLCC Commodore J.E. Fordyce, arguably one of the most experienced Georgian Bay cruisers on the lakes.

This year also brings a totally new and modernized web site to better support secure webinar registration, plus new webinar broadcasting arrangements. With these changes all GLCCSchool facilities will now be directly managed by the Great Lakes Cruising Club.

GLCCSchool webinars are open to everyone, whether they are a Great Lakes Cruising Club member or not. Members of the USPS and CPS, can take advantage of discounts for GLCCSchool webinars. For further information see the www.GLCCSchool.com web site and the USPS (www.usps.org) or CPS (http://www.cps-ecp.ca) web sites.
