Perspective from the Sea

Sorry for the delay in getting out this week’s edition of Cruising Compass. I’ve been away to attend the funeral of a close friend who drowned in an unfortunate accident.

It’s an unpleasant thought to think of drowning, but it is a reality that exists when living on the water. As sailors we have a deep and genuine respect for the power of the sea. And this respect is buoyed nearly every week as it seems a new shipwreck or rescue at sea story pops up. These stories put the sea’s might into perspective and serve as cautionary tales that reinforce our need to keep our crews safe by mitigating risk when heading out for a day sail or trip across an ocean.

Stay safe out there and enjoy this week’s edition.
