Summer cruising is in full swing in many parts of the world and that means sailors are out in force. One of the best parts of seeing so many boats out sailing, swinging in anchorages and taking up slips in marinas is the family camaraderie that comes with it. And it is really no surprise, as boating and sailing are tailor-made for family fun, but it is more than that.
Getting out for a cruise with family has special, unquantifiable rewards. Whether it is dad taking the helm of his son’s sailboat (which happened on our boat last weekend), passing the lifestyle on to the next generation, or learning to row or sail a dinghy for the first time, cruising as a family produces unforgettable life lessons and enduring memories. So have fun cruising with your family this summer, the memories and skills are sure to last a lifetime.
