Strictly Sail Long Beach, Southern California’s only all-sail boat show, attracted 4,369 people this weekend, an increase of 130 percent from last year when the event was known as the Long Beach Yacht & Boat Show.
“Initial feedback from exhibitors has been very positive, with many reporting leads from qualified sailors and boat owners. And excitement from attendees about the new layout and educational offerings resonated throughout the show,” National Marine Manufacturers Association vice president Dave Geoffroy said in a statement.
“Building a foundation this year with key organizations in the sailing industry, combined with NMMA’s marketing and communications resources, we anticipate Strictly Sail Long Beach to be a mainstay for the sailing community and Southern California marine industry.”
Partnering with the American Sailing Association, US Sailing and Blue Water Sailing, organizers were able to broaden the scope of the event as Southern California’s premier all-sail show, providing sailing enthusiasts with a rare opportunity to learn from the industry’s top pros.
Educational and interactive offerings included dozens of hands-on basic and advanced on-water sailing clinics from ASA-certified instructors, the US Sailing-sanctioned Safety-at-Sea seminar and more than 60 on-land sailing seminars.
The new on-water attraction Try It Cove, presented by Action Watersports, allowed visitors to discover the boating lifestyle through paddle sports and sail rides.
