Thanks to Pete Williams for this shot of his Herreschoff ketch, Sandpiper, anchored in East Cove, Deal Island, Australia.

Walking around Annapolis, you can feel the pre-show buzz in the air. The boats are all here, shiny and new in their stalls. The industry folks have been trickling in over the past few days and everything seems set for the 43rd edition of what should be an excellent United States Sailboat Show.
I know some people don’t care for boat shows, but I love them. I love the excitement of sailing in the air, the new products and boats, and hanging out with friends new and old. Patrons come to these shows with a glint in their eye, dreams of buying that new boat or finding the perfect pieces to fit out an old one. Whether you are a racing sailor, a cruising sailor, or not even a sailor at all, there is always something fun and fascinating to see and do at a sailboat show.
If you are at the show this week, feel free to stop by the Blue Water Sailing Media booth, F8, and say hello!
Enjoy this week’s Cruising Compass!
