Also, a big thanks to U.S. Coast Guard Base Seattle for answering my many questions! They want CC readers to know that these are the five required pieces of equipment the USCG will look for during a SAFETY inspection. At night, they look for properly working running lights and will most likely check to make sure you are not pumping black water into the sea if you are in inland waters.
