If you can’t get your hands on your liquor of choice or are just looking to create some new options while you’re out at sea, consider making your own Kahlua using this recipe.
7 cups sugar
7 cups water
1 cup strong coffee
1/5th (750ml) vodka
1 vanilla bean (split in half)
Prep: Heat water and sugar and boil until all sugar is melted. Add coffee and let cool before pouring into one gallon jug. Add vanilla bean and vodka to jug. Put date on jug. Hide it somewhere out of sight for a month (or longer for better results). Serve over ice, plain or with milk.
