Polish sailor Tomasz Cichoki has spent nearly 190 days on the water in his circumnavigation attempt, and it has not been without incident. Cichoki suffered a cracked rib and damaged steering after a collision with an unidentified object, and after repairs in South Africa, he lost satellite contact for approximately two weeks somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Cichoki is now past New Zealand and making his way toward the Cape Horn. We think it’s worth following his progress (he has a new satellite sponsor) as he works his way across the other half of the world. Follow him at www.kapitancichoki.pl.
