The Coast Guard suspended its search for a missing man Sunday afternoon, a day after his boat capsized near Sandy Point in Maryland.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Jonathan Lindberg says the search pattern for a missing 25-year-old man shifted south on Sunday morning based on currents and the flow of the Bay. The Coast Guard, Anne Arundel County Fire and the Maryland State Police concentrated on the area between Sandy Point and Kent Island.
The Coast Guard ended their search at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday; however, Maryland Natural Resources Police are continuing their search efforts.
According to authorities, an unresponsive 40-year-old man pulled from the water was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center where he died. A 25 year-old woman rescued Saturday was still recovering from hypothermia.
Captain James Rostek with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department says they received a 911 call from one of the victims in the accident as the sailboat was sinking and he was in the water.
The accident happened at around 2:40 pm Saturday afternoon.
Crews have recovered the sailboat, but are still searching for the cause of the accident.
