Interlux and Awlgrip have created the new Echo Program to show their commitment to reducing their impact on the environment while continuing to provide top quality products. The Echo Program covers everything Interlux and Awlgrip are doing as a yacht coatings business to reduce their impact on the environment, from their policies and reduction targets to the initiatives they have underway in their factories, warehouses and laboratories.
Parent company International Paint LLC has developed an Environmental Scorecard tool as a scientifically credible route for assessing and scoring products in terms of their environmental impact. The Scorecard, unique and only available to International Paint LLC and their products, assesses the environmental impact of a product across its entire life cycle, from raw material sourcing to waste disposal. Each product is assessed against nine criteria including solvent emissions, eco-toxicity and climate change. The score is converted into an “Echo Rating” – the lower the rating a product has, the lower its relative impact on the environment.
