NSHOF Announces Its First Class of Inductees

There are so many wonderful people who have done so much for sailing as both a sport and an industry. The National Sailing Hall of Fame has announced its first class of inductees, and among the honorees we see a lot of familiar faces from our corner of the sailing world in Newport, RI. The inductees will be:Betsy Alison
Hobie Alter
Charlie Barr
Paul Cayard
Dennis Connor
Nathanael Herreshoff
Ted Hood
Gary Jobson
Buddy Melges
Bus Mosbacher
Lowell North
Joshua Slocum
Olin Stephens
Ted Turner
Harold Vanderbilt

The induction ceremony is set to take place on October 23, 2011 at the San Diego Yacht Club.

What do you think? Did the NSHOF pull together a well rounded first class? Is there anyone else who should have made the cut this time around?
