The Cascais Marina will come alive with the America’s Cup Experience when the inaugural America’s Cup World Series kicks off in Cascais August 6-14. The nine-day international sporting competition will see fast action on the race course, while off the water, thousands of fans will enjoy local and international live music, access to sailing stars and, interactive displays in a fun-charged festival on shore at The Base.
The Base will feature live viewing of the races with live commentary, a video-game style Racing Simulator, and first hand accounts of the racing each day from some of the crew of the AC teams. The Base and the race course have been laid out so that there will be high-speed racing at time close to shore for fans to see up close. The innovative regatta format includes a mix of speed trials, head-to-head match racing, and all-out fleet racing with ten identical AC45 wing-sailed catamarans charging the line. The Base is located at the Cascais Marina and is open 11am to midnight every day, from the August 6-14. Admission is free.
