West Marine to Open Biggest Store Ever

It appears West Marine is confident that there is going to be an uptick in the economy–in particular in the boating industry.

West Marine, the largest specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories, announced it is opening the biggest store in the company’s history in Fort Lauderdale, FL. West Marine is planning on opening a 50,000 square foot flagship at the end of the year. This store will be twice as big as the company’s current largest store and will be focused on serving both local and seasonal boating customers.

“We’re designing and building the new Fort Lauderdale West Marine Boating Superstore from the ground up to better serve the customers in this amazing boating market. We believe it will be the world’s largest (and hopefully most exciting) boating store, with the largest selection of core for-the-boat products and for-the boater apparel and shoes,” said Geoff Eisenberg, CEO, West Marine.

The West Marine Boating Superstore will have many in-store experiential features never seen before in a West Marine store. As an example, the centerpiece of the Ft. Lauderdale Boating Superstore will be a megayacht fly bridge displaying the nation’s largest retail presentation of marine electronics and audio systems.  There will be a spectacular fishing department for offshore and inshore saltwater anglers.  Plus, Florida’s most complete sailboat hardware selection and an on-site rigging shop.  In addition, the boating superstore will have a comprehensive core engine parts department, marine plumbing and electrical supplies, inflatable boats, kayaks, rigged boats, and outboards.  A fantastic selection of technical apparel, foul weather gear, casual apparel, footwear and accessories will be on deck to outfit the entire family. It will be a must-see destination for any boater or angler living or visiting the south Florida area.
