Last week the World ARC yachts ga
thered for a final rendezvous at the Marigot Bay Marina, Saint Lucia, to enjoy a packed social program ashore and to prepare for the Parade of Sail to Rodney Bay on Saturday, which marked the end of World ARC 2010/11. For the last few weeks the boats have been enjoying a free cruising period visiting wonderful (if not windy and rainy) anchorages in the Windward Islands.
After a few weeks of free cruising there was a bit of catching up to do at a cocktail reception, as well as meeting old friends who were involved in previous legs of the Rally and who had flown in to rejoin their boats as crew for the end of Rally festivities.
The 11 boats already in Marigot Bay were to be joined later by the rest of the fleet. The group celebrated with a Creole dockside party on Thursday night. The end of the Rally was a time for reflection on the challenge of sailing around the world and the crews had much to celebrate.
