The Yacht Week is a flotilla sailing extravaganza for experienced and amateur sailors to teach people that sailing is fun and to reach out to new people that have never given sailing a chance before. It’s a bit like summer camp for adults. The goal is to bring a similar experience to young people that they would experience on a ski holiday, but with yachts. Organizers want to show that sailing is cheaper, easier, more fun, more social, and happens during the summer, when more people take vacation. The average age of participants is 25. Participants can reserve their spaces on a wide range of boats including the Beneteau Oceanis 50, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45DS and Lagoon 420 and can choose to bring their own skipper or use one from The Yacht Week. An estimated 650-700 boats are expected to participate in The Yacht Week this year. The Yacht Week takes place in the BVIs in the spring and in Turkey, Croatia and Greece throughout the summer, ensuring you not only get a fabulous experience, but a fabulous spot. Oh, and there are lots of parties too! For more information, go to www.theyachtweek.com.
