Reports in several U.S. and U.K. papers say that Tiger Woods has put his yacht, Privacy, on the brokerage market for $25 million. The 155-foot Christensen motoryacht was delivered to Woods in 2004, and was purchased as a wedding gift for his ex-wife Elin Nordegren. The purchase price was estimated at more than $20 million.
The Palm Beach Post reported that Woods had offered the yacht as part of their $100 million divorce settlement, but Nordegren rejected the offer because of costs associated with operating it. “She didn’t want it because the upkeep is incredibly expensive,” a source told the newspaper.
The couple spent many weeks on the yacht until Woods and Nordegren split up, following revelations of Woods’ serial marital infidelity. The yacht is moored in North Palm Beach, Florida.
The Daily Mail quoted superyacht builder John Staluppi as saying the asking price is too high. “The market on big yachts has gone down,” Staluppi told the paper. “It’s a buyer’s market. Unless he sells to someone who wants to brag that he’s got Tiger’s yacht, he’ll get about $20 million.”
Woods recently bought a 62-foot yacht called Solitude for $3.1 million.
