Post Learning How To Play Rift - The Difficult But Basic Overview

Rift Platinum- Learning how to play Rift can appear like a daunting task at first. However with the right help & the right attitude you can basically get through it & even compete with confidence.
While there is a lot to keep up with, one time you play, it all quickly becomes second nature. The details make the story more palatable & this in my view increases the fun.
There is a wide selection of decisions & an even larger variety of choices from which you will be making those from. At first, might be a overwhelmed & thinking this lots of work but the fact that there is lot more to it only means the play intensity & fun will be that much more worth it.

Rift Gold-The very elderly Adage comes to mind here, 'The more you put in to it the more you will get out of it.' This is more true to the finish result of anything & in this its fun work anyway so it becomes the paradox of Simple Hard work.
Your first job is to generate your character. See, this is not so bad. You must choose a server which is termed (a Shard) Your choice is between a PVE, PVP, RPPVE, or RPPVP. Here is a very fast look at these in minor detail.
PVE is fundamentally Player verses elemental. You get to run around without being bothered by other players. Meaning attacked by the opposing faction automatically unless you have left a war-front.
PVP player verses player. After you leave the beginning zones for your faction you will be automatically flagged for PVP.
RP Role Playing. These are bound by the same rules as PVE or PVP, but are more intended for role players.
This indicates that you can be attacked by the opposite faction freely in the higher level-zones.
Now that you have picked your shard it is time to create your character. In order to create your character you will need to choose your faction from the two opposing sides. Defiant or Guardian. The difference is nominal and there is no communication between the two.
You are enemies basically residing in different cities with different histories and quest chains. Other than that, the largest or most important difference is the access to the Races.
The Races
In rift each Race come with their own statistics and Racial-only abilities. Racials (as they are sometimes called) can be powerful especially when playing in certain classes.
There are Bahmi, Eth, Kelari, Dwarves, High-Elves, and Mathosians. After choosing your Race it is time to decide on your class.
In Rift there are four Classes; Cleric, Mage, Warrior, and Rogue. You choose a class basically because of the souls you can use.
Each class can use 8 souls, not counting the ninth which is not available in the beginning. There are 32 different souls broken into soul trees from each character. The Cleric soul-tree, Mage soul-tree, Rogue and Warrior soul-tree and these determine what your character's abilities will be.
This is just the basics of how to play Rift on a simple level. It gets more complicated but it also gets to be more fun in the same stroke. Hope this will give you an idea of what you will be doing. Have fun!
