TowBoatUS - Fort Lauderdale Celebrates 20 Years of Service to the Boating Community Capt. Larry Acheson founder and president of TowBoatUS - Fort Lauderdale, celebrated 20 years of service last night at the 15th Street Fisheriers in Fort Lauderdale. Your Cruising Editor was there to see all that TowBoatUS has to offer So. Florida.
Your Cruising Editor congratulates TowBoatUS Founder Capt. Larry. (N.Birnbaum2009) Capt. Acheson is an active supporter and leader of the boating community. In addition to its search and rescue efforts in supporting local law enforcement and U.S. Coast Guard, Offshore Marine Towing’s professional associations include: TowBoatU.S. (Boat Owners Association of The United States approved towing network), Regional representative on the BoatU.S. Towing Company Advisory Council, C-PORT (The National Association for the Marine Assistance Industry), Member of C-PORT’s Board of Directors, Ft. Lauderdale Mariners Club, MIASF (Marine Industries Association of South Florida) and the Port Everglades Propeller Club. Besides offering the usual -Emergency Towing, Salvage Services vessels are available for charter and range in size from 26' to 96'. Their vessels are suitable for charter operations such as cable lay, dive/salvage platform, site surveys, film platform, film subject, chase boats, and many others.
With their flagship the Richard L. Becker, at 96' and weighing almost 100 tons, they can handle almost anything floating or otherwise. According to Capt. Acheson, it has towed a boat all the way from Bermuda to South Florida and is also chartered as a research vessel.
