The Landing School Invites the Marine Industry to Meet the Class of 2009

Marine employers may now register to attend the annual job fair for current boatbuilding, yacht design, systems and composites students at The Landing School on June 1, 2009.

ARUNDEL, ME—The Landing School’s graduating student-body is preparing to meet prospective employers on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the annual Job Fair in Arundel, Maine. Representatives from boat shops, yards and design firms around the world are invited to have free tabletop booth space where they can greet and interview The Landing School’s class of 2009. More than 70 well-educated, enthusiastic students are seeking employment as boatbuilders, yacht designers, marine systems techs and composites techs following their 10-month-long training programs that culminate with a June 20 graduation.

All marine businesses are invited to attend The Landing School Job Fair at no cost. This annual event is held for the benefit of the students and the marine industry. Representatives from marine businesses are invited to set up their literature tables at The School noon and 2:00 p.m., during which time lunch will be available. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., employers will have the opportunity to present information about their companies to the students, and arrange for short interviews later in the day.

“The annual job fair is an important introduction of The Landing School’s students to the nationwide marine industry,” says Barry Acker, president of The Landing School. “Even in the current industry downturn, we expect employers still want to meet the next generation of well-trained, well-prepared marine workers.”

All marine employers with open positions should confirm their attendance at The Landing School Job Fair on Monday, June 1, by downloading a participation form from The School’s website, www.landingschool.edu, and returning it completed before May 15, 2009. This is a popular annual event, but space is limited and will be allocated to companies in the order in which they respond. If you’re unable to attend but would like to have a presence at the Job Fair, please forward your company literature and open-job descriptions by May 15 and they will be available to students at the Job Fair. If you have questions, call 207-985-7976 or email info@landingschool.edu.
